Daddy's Birthday

One of the interesting advantages to being a "more mature" parent with young children is the whole birthday experience - yours, not theirs. LIttle kids like birthdays - older parents are not nearly as fond of them. So - in an effort to satisfy all parties, we made daddy's birthday today all about making daddy a cake.
We actually had some teamwork and sharing going on - an added bonus!

The fringe benefit of making a cake.....

After the icing - the decorating (note...in between the mixing and icing - the teamwork and sharing totally broke down!)

ALl the hard work pays off!

Doug had a great day - even if it was relatively uneventful this year. That is unusual, as I am a big fan of birthday's and believe that a big to-do should be made..but this year it just got away from me.
The lack of celebration should not be seen nor interpreted that Doug's day is not important nor that we don't love him. We do - and he deserves much better than we (I) was able to put together...Doug, I promise I will make it up to you (when I get some sleep and have a minute to put it together!)
