An Update on Velcro Baby's Day

Yup -that is what our travel group is referring to my daughter as - she is the official "Velcro baby" of the bunch - stuck to me like Velcro! You know - hard to tear apart, makes an ugly sound when finally separated. She is sound asleep on the bed right now.....
Speaking of our travel group - there are nine families in total. Five are adopting in Guandong Province including us - so we have all been together since Monday. The other four will join us this weekend with their angels.

We have been so blessed with the families that God has put together. There are four girls and one boy (Tara - I've decided Moli's out for Michael - he's reserved for Becky!). We are having a blast. Lia's parents brought their two other children - who are in 6th grade & 3rd grade - and we are really enjoying them. Joey (the 6th grader) has become the official dinner blessing guy - and does an awesome job! The other toddler also has a sister - and the Lord has already knit them together as sisters - it's amazing how the baby has taken to her big sister.

We've been birthing these families together - and having a blast doing it. Watching Michael give his mom her first unsolicited hug today and the joy on her face was as close to heaven as you can get with your feet on the ground. Josie is our resident glee baby -Here's Josie & her mom with us waiting to finalize our adoptions on Tuesday

This morning, we all went to the Six Banyan Temple. The monks were conducting a prayer service for the earthquake victims. After that, they did a blessing ceremony for the babies Becky & I missed that - we were on the bus having a meltdown - I guess she is the Lord's baby and just didn't see the need for a Buddhist Monk's blessing! Never the less - it was a beautiful place

We are here with Nicki - one of our guides. She will be going with us to the orphanage on Friday. She is also the one that told Destiney she should bargain when we went to the pearl market after the temple - and I think Destiney did the bargaining for all the families!

  2. Looks like a glorious day! I should have sent $ with you and had Destiney do some haggling for me:) Although I am sure Dave would argue that I do not need one more pearl!

Becky looks fabulous and you look like a happy Mama!

  4. Karen-Great picture of Becky on the bed! I'm reliving some of my trip as I see your journey unfold. Will and my favorite memories (aside from Kate moments) was taking a walk in each city down a totally non-tourist street. Take your gang of four off the beaten path for some adventure, memories, and future stories. You look and sound great-enjoy the moments. -David

  5. Hi Karen! How sweet that picture of Becky sleeping is. I did laugh a lot about the "velcro" and the sound it makes when separated! You are right, Becky knew she did not need some monk's blessing, she is blessed by God and that is all she needs. :-)
