Autumn Moon Festival

One of the bigger Chinese holidays is the Autumn Moon Festival. So the Lucky Mommy's decided to have our own little celebration. We made a reservation (sort of) at a local Chinese restaurant (and I am pretty sure we won't be welcomed back there!), got dressed up & went to celebrate! I would like to tell you I have a good grasp on exactly what we are celebrating, but after some brief research there are several legends surrounding this holiday. No matter - it's a part of our kids culture, so off we go! Kids, parents, grandparents and siblings - 19 in all!
Becky looked so adorable - even with the palm tree ponytail - or maybe especially with it!

Becky and her BFF Gracie -
do they look guilty or what???
Trying to get a mommy and me shot.....not very successfully!
A little more success here
This could be known as the "calm before the storm" -
This would be known as "the storm" - led by none other than the littlest whirlwind in the blue dress - they delighted in running between the tables and chasing each other around -
A little moon cake settled everyone down - the kids each got a golden pig moon cake - that they actually liked! Mia showing hers off in true game show fashion!
Kailee and Becky sample one of the adult moon cakes - seems they like it! It must be in their genetic make-up as none of the rest of us cared too much for them!

Sunday was the first time since before the beginning of the summer that all five of the original Lucky Mommy's have been together. While it was chaotic (ask the poor husbands!), it was so nice to share some time together. These friendships are so valuable to our kids as the share a common history, but they are also so important to the mommies - who have developed friendships that extend beyond our kids. I am so grateful for these moms!

  1. I got a good laugh thinking about all the girls running through the restaurant! I am sure there are several places where we go that they just cringe when they see us coming...Glad you had a good Autumn Moon Festival!
