One of the driving forces behind this epic adventure was that Julie needed some follow up visits at the Williams Syndrome Clinic at Children's Hospital. So early Wednesday morning, she and I set out to the first of 7 appointments
We have frequented more than on Children's Hospital - and I can safely say that CHSTL does the very best job of any we have been to - by a lot. This young woman is one of their volunteers - and she hangs out in this waiting room all morning just playing with the kids while they are waiting.
Very cool. Great customer service.
We had a bit of time between our morning appointments - because everything runs on time here(!!), so we did a little exploring We found the school room, the play rooms, the teen lounge and the roof deck garden. Even in the drizzle, it was a lovely place.
This is what happens when you don't sleep at night - you take a nap while waiting for the geneticist. (and you wake up grumpy when she comes in - that was lovely!)
We got a pretty good report from all the follow up visits - one more on Friday, and it looks like we won't need to be back for 12-18 months.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Katie was a bit under the weather. We knew this because she slept in and wasn't the first one awake! Doug stayed at the hotel with her, and Aunt Kathy came to the rescue of Becky and Cami (yet again!).
They visited the Butterfly house!
They also went out to lunch and to the American Girl store....
It's pretty fun to have an aunt who raised two boys and missed all the girly girl stuff - because she wants to do it with you.
After the hospital and the butterflies and the shopping, Doug and I traded off and he took the girls to dinner with some family while I nursed Katie back to health!
A good day all the way around - including for Katie who was feeling MUCH better by the end of the day.
Today also marks the day when we have more days behind us than in front of us on this trip. That is a little good and a little sad - which I think means the trip is generally (so far) a successful one!
