My kids are not hearty weather kids. three of the four were born in a province that never falls below 50 degrees - and they live in moderate southern California. I am from the Northeast. Where we have real snow days and white Christmas's and know how to "do" cold.
Because I am "that mom", when given the option of a chilly hayride to see a spectacular Christmas light show and give my children a taste of real Christmas feel, or see the lights from the comfort of heated seats - I opted for the hayride. (Becky is the penguin in my lap whose eyes you can barely see!). It was part of the their "real" Christmas experience!
Hot chocolates all the way around helped ward off the cold!
My other Southern Cal baby - who is adjusting to the cold quite nicely - it was her husband, the one from Montana, who wanted to stay on his heated seat.
My penguin lover - all warmed up!
The other part of their real Christmas experience was really for me - seeing in person my prayer warrior and friend Pam. Pam is part of a FB prayer group that I belong to. We pray - a lot- for one another and share all the joys and heart ache of living this life. She happens to live in the same town as all the extended Yingling's, so she was part of our family in person for an evening!
The real reason Jesus came to the earth as a lowly babe - to restore our relationship with God. To repair the family of God, so that we can be family here on earth to one another. The glory of Christ shines through my friend Pam - and this was a highlight of our time in St. Louis!
On the 7th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me.....
a chilly hayride with friends and family!!

I thought that was a stuffed animal next to you! lol
