I have been to the Great Wall of China - an amazing sight everyone should see. It is awe inspiring, and the history behind it is amazing. However, I had never really done the GReat Wall until I went there with two toddlers!!! It's a different experience - especially when it was 30 degrees out! We started out on the bus this morning. The bus is an integral part of the adoption trip - a lot happens on the bus. Some of the best moments (of all sorts) happen on the bus. Today - we had one.
We made a stop on the way at the government jade store...hang onto your hats - I bought nothing! After consulting with my shopping consultants (Angel & Kathleen) - we decided we could get much better prices somewhere else. But it was a fun stop none the less!
We finally made it the Great Wall -and after 20 minutes of bundling - we were off! (as an aside - I have no idea how anyone who lives anywhere that you have to do the bundling every day ever gets anywhere!) Katie has difficulty walking under the best of circumstances - and dressed like nanuck of the north...well, she spent some time like a turtle on her back today. Becky, on the other hand. loved everything about it - and kept wanting to go higher. I would love to bring her back someday when the weather is nicer & she's a little older & see how high she would really go!

Becky is going to have mommy's bug for travel and adventure! The girls are beautiful. Katie already looks more relaxed with you. Love the pics of you together!
ReplyDeleteI love these photos Karen! Katie looks so relaxed and happy on the bus an Becky look like she owns the Great Wall. Hope all is going well.

Brrrr, it looks cold there! :) I showed Gracie your blog tonight and she got really excited seeing Becky and Katie. Can't wait until you guys are home. Enjoy the moments because everything will soon seem like a blur.

Great pictures, Karen! Tackling the wall on a cold day with little ones. My hat is off to all of you!!
ReplyDeleteWorth it, though!
Looks like you're all having a great adventure! Can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteKaren, we will have to plan a trip some day to take all our kids back. "Doing" the Great Wall is hard with just 1 toddler let along 2! Oh and you can get MUCH better prices on jade in Guangzhou. The same mall place where they have the pearls they have jade too.
