There's not much more I can say after my wonderful husband's post. Katie joined our family about 8 hours ago, and we are all doing well. She came into the room like she owned the place, not a tear in sight! She is so curious - bouncing from one thing to another looking and playing. Becky alternated between helping her - giving her a blanket, showing her things, and being extremely put out ! "My turn" and "mine" are every other word out of her mouth!
We stayed in the room until the whole group went to lunch at 11:30. Katie can not get enough food. It was sad. She literally was stuffing cookies and crackers in her mouth in the room, and at lunch ate more than Ann, Becky & I combined. We are going to have to work on that. Later, even though both girls were exhausted, no naps - for anyone - not good. We'll see how dinner goes :)
It is all that I expected - and more. She & Becky are already developing sisterly behavior, alternating playing together and tussling over the same thing. She & I are working it out - she's not sure what to do with me, and to be honest, I'm not sure how to do for her. But we will work it out!
Tomorrow, after the official registration, I will post pictures from today. Wait till you see her.....
Congratulations Yingling Family of 6!!!!! So happy for you. I look forward to hearing more about Katie as her little personality unfolds. We are SO happy for you but I must admit we are DYING to see the photos!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have read a lot about the eating issue and everything I have read/been told by attachment specialists say to let them eat as much as their hearts desire. Eventually they will learn to trust that the food (and love) will keep coming and they will slow down. They claim that the worst thing you could do at this point is limit her. She will figure it out and you will know that she is beginning to trust her new life with you.
Lots of love and prayers from our family:)
