Thankful Thursday (on Friday)

Today (and always) I am thankful that we have an awesome God who knows what we need long before we actually need it.
On January 2, 2009, Doug's daughter Ashlee - then age 19 - moved in with us to attend JC here in Fullerton. Becky had been home 6 months, and when Ashlee moved in, we were a well oiled machine here. She fit right in, and we went along our merry way! We were not even considering at that time turning our calm, peaceful home into "Munchkinland". When we did...well, the oil broke down & the machine ground to a halt!
Having Ashlee here has been the difference between sanity & insanity for me. She steps in without asking in the kitchen and in the kid's room - often occupying one thing or another so I can get something done. She pitches in unasked - seeing what needs to be done & doing it. I honestly do not know how we would have made it through these first weeks home without her. God knew we would need help long before we did - and sent it.
I am thankful for this young woman today - I am grateful that she is part of our family, and I am privileged to be able to watch her grow into the person that God intended her to be.

  1. Just from the little interaction I have had with Ashlee, she seems like a very wonderful and responsible young woman. You should be very proud (I know you are) of her! :)

  3. I noticed that about Ashlee, she is a wonderful young woman, nurturing and caring (when Grandma got sick) and always stepping in and just doing without asking. She is mature beyond her biological age, she makes everyone feel welcome. Anyone would be lucky to have such a wonderful daughter. Ashlee is awesome !

  5. Hi! Got your comment on my blog just now. I agree. You have to wonder if such naysayers have ever even had children, let alone done what they could to help the fatherless. So sad.
