Blessings in our Neighborhood

Every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, we have the neighbors on our street over for a soup dinner. Nothing fancy - just a couple of pots of soup, some bread, some wine and some treats. Some years we have 25 people, some years only 10. But every year, no matter who is theorem we are reminded of just how very blessed we are to live where we do.
Our street is not fancy nor opulent. Our houses are not updated or modern nor McMansions. Our neighbors are not pretentious nor "The Jones".

We live in a modest house, on a modest street, with humble people.

So a couple of times a year, we stop and get together and enjoy!

Katie was ready for the party -

But you will notice that by the time this dinner picture was taken, she had taken herself to bed..poor Katie is a 7 pm to sleep girl, pretty much no matter what else is going on! Her sister, on the other hand, is a party girl- and had settled herself right smack in the middle of the table!
 The neighborhood watch dogs!
There was deep and engaging conversations taking place all around!
One of our neighbors had daily visiting from Spain - who spoke no English. Never bothered Becky a bit...she engaged and entertained the whole evening!
Every time I get "house envy" for more rooms or more closet space, or "yard envy" for a big rolling back yard with a pool - I look our our front at my neighbors homes, and know that no amount of house nor yard can replace what we have found in our neighbors.

  1. Love the pics Karen! Whenever you have a chance I'd love the pic of our table and Angel's mom playing with Becky so I can send them to her - I mean, your not busy this week, right? :)
