- On Wednesday, November 23rd, our cable went from the National Visa Center to the US Consulate in Guangzhou, China
- On Friday. November 25th, we received an email that our Article 5 was ready to be picked up - normally a 2 weeks turn around
- On Wednesday, November 30th, we received word our travel approval was issues
- On Thursday, December 1st, our consulate appointment was issued - for three weeks later.
The paperwork process is taking about 4-5 weeks right now; it was 8 days for ours.
When this process started to accelerate, I began to fret and worry - that I would be gone over Christmas. There were so many competing factors about the timing and the impact of the trip that I began to spin out of control trying to think about possible outcomes.
Then I remember that none of this is a surprise to God.
That He sees all outcomes and has a perfect plan.
That He saw my broken heart at the prospect of our family not being together at Christmas but also knew my deep desire for Cami to finally have a momma.
I gave it to Him - fully and completely.
In return, our prayers were answered and I leave on December 11th for China and will be home on December 23rd. My girls will be together on the night that we celebrate the birth of our Savior.
If the outcome had been different, my heart would have been broken, but at peace, for I trust in my God. I prayed with confidence that He could move mighty mountains to place one more child in a family before Christmas, but I was at peace that if He did not, it was better.
The past two weeks have been a painfully growing journey as I walked this path of prayer. As I learned to go bodily before God with my reverent heart prayers in confidence of His power to grant, but learning that His choice have nothing to do with His love for me.
Sometimes we see what God sees as "better" and it makes sense. Sometimes we don't. The joy of God is that we don't have to see it - we can just know that His is better. All the time. No matter what. For His is the eternal view with everlasting impact based in love. His love for me.
We're so excited for y'all! What a great Christmas this will be.
